General Overview:

The Director of Development will oversee a diverse slate of scripted and documentary film,
TV and web projects to sell to the Canadian and global marketplace. The incumbent will
develop content in partnership with co-producers and linear and digital platforms in Canada,
the US, the Caribbean, Africa and the UK; and package directors, on-screen talent, and
showrunners onto existing properties; engage with emerging and established Canadian
screenwriting talent to refine, strengthen, and position their properties for the film/TV/online
landscape.
The incumbent will create visual treatments, graphic design work, and pitch materials for
prospective projects; maintain relationships with content creators, literary and screenwriting
agents, and major publishing houses; and scout IP from a wide array of sources — including
novels, unpublished manuscripts, articles, web-series, graphic novels, and features.
As Director of Training, the incumbent will strategically plan and oversee CaribbeanTales
Media Group’s training programs; oversee relevant funding applications and final reports;
and liaise with our Distribution and Events department where necessary, as well as attend
company meetings.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
– Candidates with 5+ years of related film development and training experience are
preferred
– Proficiency in MS Office and Google software (Drive, Sheets, Documents)
– Excellent organisational, time management, digital/computer skills with knowledge of
relevant platforms
– Experience in production financing
– Proven leadership skills
– Solid understanding of marketing
– Excellent verbal and written skills
– Strong experience in concept and script development
– Story pitching skills, with the ability to analyse and deliver script and project notes
– Must be reliable, self-motivated, engaging, creative and personable
– The ability to professionally represent CaribbeanTales Media Group at
events/meetings.

Full or Part-time
Salary (based on experience and location): $65,000 CAD – $85,000 CAD
